Being young and healthy doesn’t mean much if you don’t look young and healthy as well. Most people want a lean figure, but don’t pay enough attention to their muscle health. From their biceps to their thighs, men must take care of their muscles, work on them every single day and make sure they’re always presentable and healthy. And if you’re into muscle care as well, here are a few tips that might help.
Relax and Enjoy While most people know how vital relaxation and stretching are for their muscles, they rarely do them, thinking these activities are too time-consuming and expensive. However, if they knew numerous benefits of massage therapy, they’d take it more seriously. A massage can relax your muscles after an intense workout, enhance the effects of your training and make the results even more visible. It also recovers your muscles and makes them more flexible, thus preventing cramps and pain. Check Yourself Before You Wreck Your Muscles Again, this isn’t something a lot of people do on a regular basis – instead of scheduling regular checkups two or three times a year, they avoid doctors and think that there’s nothing wrong. But simply thinking everything’s all right and actually knowing it are two different things. Therefore, a regular health check is not something you should do, but something you must do in order to stay healthy. So, why is a visit to the doctor’s good for your muscles? After a series of various tests, an experienced physician will be able to determine how flexible or tense your muscles are, and how much muscle mass you have lost. According to that, they’ll prescribe proper treatment and advise you how to improve your muscle health. Of course, you can test muscle imbalance on your own, but it’s always better to consult an expert. Get Proper Help The minute you start thinking there’s something wrong with your muscles, take action! If you don’t know how to deal with cramps, pain or muscle loss on your own, yet don’t want to visit a doctor, talk to personal trainers at your gym and hear their experiences. They’ll probably recommend a different set of exercises, which could decrease the pressure and pain. Another great way to take care of your muscles is a supplement treatment. These helpful additions to your daily menu can do wonders for your muscles and not only relieve your pain, but also assist muscle growth. Some of them, such as glucosamine supplements, are completely natural and have been scientifically proven effective when it comes to relieving back, joint and muscle pain. Accentuate Your Mandible If you want to show off your muscles, wear clothes that suit you and emphasize your good sides. However, if you want to do even more, use your face. Certain facial exercises and repeated motions will accentuate your jawline and make it look healthier, more muscular and, let’s face it, manlier. And manlier is always better! Pressing your tongue, squeezing your eyes and puckering your lips hardly sounds like exercising, but this does make a huge difference with your facial muscles. After just a week or two, you’ll start noticing a more visible jawline, less fat in your cheeks and under your mandible. If you wish to go a step further, look into reliable wrinkle treatment methods and prevent this obvious sign of aging as soon as possible. Support Your Support System Muscles support your vital organs and hence need just as much attention as your heart, lungs and brain. And if you wish to accentuate them more, you have to put in a lot of work because only healthy muscles are attractive muscles.

There is a joke that the best day to be a gym owner is the 1st of January because of all the people who made a New Year’s resolution to get in shape. Sadly, some of them quit as early as the next day. Still, it doesn’t have to be so in your case. We are not talking just about going to the gym and getting ripped, but a lot of other changes you would benefit from. Most notably, there is a series of health resolutions that would do you a world of good in the future and here are five of them. 1. Get in ShapeSo, to carry on in the same manner, getting in shape is about much more than appearance. In a world where obesity is becoming one of the leading problems, maintaining a healthy bodyweight can be one of the most important things for your overall health. Seeing how being obese increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, it is even a tip that could potentially save your life (or at least lifestyle quality). 2. Improve Your Sex LifeOne of the greatest problems modern men face is inability to speak openly about their sex problems. You see, some of them are so ashamed of erectile dysfunction that they refuse to ask for help, when in so many cases their problem could so easily be solved. However, in some situations, your erectile dysfunction will be caused by issues with your prostate. Seeing how things could get quite complicated here, quite quickly, it might be for the best to pay special attention to your prostate health from now on. 3. Sweat LessSure, this may seem as something completely unimportant and superficial, but it is in no way so. Some people are so aware of their sweating problem that they undergo a serious existential crisis. This can significantly reduce one’s willingness to participate in social encounters and in the most extreme of cases even make them avoid people altogether. In order not to suffer the same fate, there are more than few ways to achieve significant sweating reduction. Some of the methods include avoiding spicy food, applying antiperspirants and many other. 4. Care for Your Mental HealthIn this dog-eat-dog world, if you don’t take care about your mental health, no one else will. Work may be stressful, but even the greatest workaholics aren’t in the office 24/7. Find an exhaust vent and never avoid setting aside at least half an hour for it each day. The ways of achieving this are various. While some resort to far-eastern techniques of meditation or yoga, other find their satisfaction in hobbies like collecting things, watching movies or playing video games. Needless to say, this is quite subjective and you need to find what works best in your case. 5. Check Your Eyesight RegularlyThe issue of eyesight health doesn’t get nearly as media space as it should. It seems that if a disease is not terminal or particularly gruesome, it isn’t worth starting an awareness campaign over it. However, people who have trouble seeing could testify on just how wrong this attitude actually is. The thing about sight, however, is that it regularly changes for better or worse, so you need regular checkups. This is why finding an optometrist and going to them regularly is definitely worth your time. ConclusionThe best thing about these resolutions is that they really aren’t that hard to keep up with. Sure, they will require some time (and even resources) to accomplish, but you need to ask yourself one question. Are your mental and physical health something you can put a price tag on? Didn’t think so. There is an old saying that men age like fine wine, but this isn’t necessarily true in every aspect. Sure, they have more experience, more class and even more appeal but as soon as they get past that 30 years’ threshold their health starts to deteriorate. For those who lead a healthy lifestyle, these changes are not that that noticeable, but are present nevertheless. Here are five most common health issues that most men face after they turn 40.
1. Heart Problems Cardiovascular diseases include illnesses such as: heart attack, valve disease, congenital heart disease or heart failure. In 2008 alone, heart attack caused 616.000 deaths in the USA alone, which means that it is one of the most common non-violent causes of death. According to the American Heart Association, one in three adults is likely to develop at least some form of cardio-vascular disease in their lifetime. Furthermore, every year, more than 320,000 men older than 45 get diagnosed with stable angina. 2. Lung Cancer Another horrible illness that men all around the world face is a lung cancer. In most cases lung cancer is caused by tobacco and like many other vices, it is a slow killer. According to Illinois Department of Public Health, over 90 percent of all smokers start smoking at the age of 18. Now, depending on the age group, the percentage of lung cancer mortality jumps drastically by the time you are in your mid-forties. Namely, mortality age 20-34 is 0.1 percent, 35-44 is 1.3 percent while for those who are in the age group of 45-54 it jumps to a staggering 7.9 percent. 3. Erectile Dysfunction Not all problems men face after 40 are life threatening, but this doesn’t make them any easier to bare. For example, erectile dysfunction may not be dangerous, but it can have a serious impact to both your lifestyle quality and your self-esteem. Men over 40 have an almost fifty-fifty chance to experience problems with getting or even keeping an erection. The causes are usually common things such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, obesity or even surgical damage to blood vessels. Luckily, erectile dysfunction caused by most of these things is quite treatable. 4. Hair Loss While data show that most men lose their hair from 20-35 years of age, it is not at all impossible to start losing hair even after you are 40 years old. If you start losing hair early, by the age of 40 it will become much more noticeable. Luckily, in the 21st century you can treat your hair loss pharmaceutically with either oral medication or a special hair lotion. 5. Dental Problems Finally, dental problems are also something that men after 40 are much more likely to experience. Due to a presence of plaque, bacteria flourishes and causes a wide array of inconveniences. If left untreated it can ever result in teeth loss. Luckily, when discovered in the early stages, the gingivitis treatment is extremely efficient and completely harmless. All it takes is for a professional dentist to clean the plaque and give you some advice on dental health. ConclusionWhile all the afore-mentioned issues are something anyone can encounter, men after 40 are more at risk because of the transformation their body undergoes. The key with dealing with these problems is not to panic, but to look for a professional aid or at least guidance. Naturally, leading a healthier (preventive) lifestyle can’t hurt either. Overall, things are never as bad as they may appear at first. With Movember around the corner, it’s time men started growing their ‘stache once again. We love everything related to good causes, and owing to this phenomenal event, all men are encouraged to wear nature’s very own billboard by rocking all manners of moustaches — from the chevron to the classic handlebar, the Dali, and yes, even the Fu Manchu.
What is Movember? Nobody would’ve thought that a silly conversation over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia to bring back the moustache — would spark up a trend (and brand) that has become nothing short of an institution. Now, a decade later, more than 5 million so-called Mo Bros (and Mo Sistas, too!) across the world are giving their support to Movember, embracing it in full. The beautiful thing about Movember is not just full-facial hair men; it’s the cause behind it. "The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, and longer lives". What Movember has contributed is millions of men across 21 countries have joining this men’s health movement. In the process, around $650 million has been raised and more than 1,000 programs focusing on men’s health issues founded. The issues tackled are concerned with testicular cancer, prostate cancer, poor mental health, leaky gut syndrome and physical inactivity. Who is participant in MOVE? Movember has gained such popularity that men from all social and economic milieus are joining; MDs and specialists around the globe have offered their expert opinion and examination contributing to the cause and helping fellow men get healthier, happier and physically more productive. The idea is to encourage men to take care of themselves through series of little procedures and treatments, whether they’d be of cosmetic origin or solid health significance. The point is to raise awareness about early prevention of potential issues through regular examinations as well as helping heal those issues in case they’re present. The new MOVE movement With so much talk about men fashion all through 2015 and 2016, Movember’s idea is to place emphasis on men’s physical wellbeing and encourage men worldwide to prioritize their health over everything else. This year, Movember Foundation has men challenged to grow a moustache and women to support the campaign, with addition of a 30-day fitness challenge. Participants of both sexes are invited to be more active while still raising awareness and funds for men’s health. How to Movember? For 30 days, make growing a moustache your priority. To show support, sign up at Movember.com and choose to "Grow, Give or MOVE." The idea is to start the MOVE "race" clean shaven and grow your facial hair (i.e. mustache) for the month. Obviously, some men will just continue growing in their already bushy faces but the idea is to start fresh shaven from the start. A healthy lifestyle and everything that has to do with it is star-orientation of MOVE through a series of campaigns and conversations. The point is to spark up a dialogue that would raise awareness and vital funds and make men’s health a priority, not a side-concern. Who can Movember? Both men and women can (and should) participate, as there is no facial hair discrimination when it comes to Movember; naturally, ladies aren’t expected to grow a moustache (unless they want to). Everyone can join and commit to the MOVE fitness challenge. After signing up, engage your family, friends, and colleagues to donate. Go an extra mile and talk to everyone you know (i.e. people you are close with) about the importance of MOVEmber and try to get them to join. If you know any doctors that would be willing to go freelance for the cause, that would be great! Your efforts have the potential to change the face of men’s health — all it takes is good will, a moustache or a MOVE, and we’re good to go! It would seem as I sit here listening to "The Doobie Brothers" that as men we all have various roles that we play in our lives, however we present ourselves in a slightly different light dependent on who we are with.
But our core remains the same..... |
