NZSCM Credentialing
Dr Morunga is a fully qualified Member of the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine (NZSCM ) formerly known as the New Zealand College of Appearance Medicine (NZCAM). The New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine represents Appearance Medicine Physicians. The name change reflects the progression of the NZSCM to a formal training and auditing body for Appearance Medicine physicians.
Through the development of best "standards" of practice, NZSCM has developed a rigorous training programme for aspiring Appearance Medicine physicians as well as an audit programme for the continuing medical education and recertification of Fellows of NZSCM.
WHY CHOOSE AN NZSCM PHYSICIAN FOR YOUR COSMETIC TREATMENT
By choosing an appearance medicine physician who is a member of NZSCM the consumer can be confident that they are in safe and competent hands. NZSCM only endorses products that have been clinically proven to be safe, effective and fully registered by a regulatory body such as Medsafe, TGA or FDA.
The field of appearance medicine is rapidly expanding internationally as the demand for safe, effective and affordable cosmetic procedures increases. In general, techniques are becoming more complex requiring a greater level of skill by the practitioner. Furthermore some of the products available now are not well tested for either safety or effectiveness.

When considering any procedure you should ensure that you have all the information you to need to be able to make an informed decision. Concentrate on the areas you would like your NZCAM doctor to address. There is likely to be a number of different procedures that could be applied to achieve the desired result you are seeking.
Do not be afraid to ask questions. Make sure that you have a very clear understanding of the procedure and what results you should expect. Ask your doctor what alternative procedures there are for you to consider. Your doctor will be happy to answer all your questions as they want you to be fully informed and confident. Your questions will also guide your doctor into understanding your expectations.
All procedures, whether it is an operation or minor non-surgical procedure can carry an element of risk. It is important that you discuss this with your doctor and you understand any risks to the procedure you are considering. Some risks are very minor such as bruising or redness. Others may involve specific advice. Your doctor will explain these risks and offer you guidance to minimize and manage any risks. In many cases your doctor may show you before and after photos of the procedure you are contemplating or that they are recommending to you.
Before you proceed with any procedure you need to ask yourself:
• Am I confident in my doctor?
• Am I confident in having this procedure?
• Am I happy with the arrangements made for me to reach my desired result?
• Have I had all my questions answered?
• Do I understand any risks and potential complications with this procedure?
Remember NZCAM physicians are bound to take into account the holistic nature of the client's needs, including physical, emotional, psychological and environmental.
