Botox® For Treatment Of Frown Lines And Wrinkles
Botox® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, around the eyes and in the forehead region in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time.
How does Botox® work to improve wrinkle and frown lines?
Botox®, introduced in 2002, is the first botulinum toxin to be approved by the FDA to temporarily treat moderate to severe glabellar lines between the brows. Botox® reduces muscle action, thereby reducing skin folding and consequently wrinkle formation. With reduced muscle action and wrinkle formation, frowns disappear, the eyes open and are brighter. |
WHY CHOOSE BOTOX®
|
APPROXIMATELY 11.8 MILLION BOTOX® PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE 2002. 97% OF 117 PATIENTS SURVEYED WERE SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF THEIR BOTOX® COSMETIC EXPERIENCE.
Botox® is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows around the eyes and in the forehead. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form. |
Dysport® is a Botulinum Toxin Type A that is very similar to Botox®. They are both registered in New Zealand for the treatment of facial wrinkles.
At Essential Mens Clinic, we stock both products and discuss the differences between each with you at your consultation. We have generally found Dysport® to produce superior results to Botox®, especially in terms of on-set of action – Dysport® works faster! For this reason, Dysport® is our preferred Botulinum toxin (Type A). If you want the effects to start sooner, talk to your Doctor about Dysport®. We all have different anatomy and our physicians are able to look at your individual situation and determine the best product for you. |
